About Me

Hi, I’m Jaydon, a passionate game designer with three years of experience studying the field. My focus is primarily on character design within a 3D space, though I also possess a strong background in the latest game design software and have a keen eye for detail and creativity. From an early age, I have been fascinated by technology and gaming, which has led me to pursue a career in game design. Over the years, I have developed my skills in character rigging, visual effects, and animation, which have significantly contributed to my personal and game design projects. I am passionate about creating immersive gaming experiences that resonate with the player, and I am excited to bring my skills and experience to your team.

3D Designs and Effects

During my university course, I have made several weapon-based models and designs in my spare time, refining my skills with my software choices of Maya and Substance Painter. This example is of a fantasy-based “Rouge-like” sword.

This wooden cart is one of my models I created early on in my university degree and is intended to represent a fantasy trader cart inspired by the likes of Skyrim and Lord of the Rings intended for merchants to use in an appropriate setting.

Alongside my “Rouge-like” sword, I looked to other inspirations of mine, a key one being Warhammer 40,000, which is a secure theme I have an interest in. I created my own model of a Space Marine thunder hammer with gold plating and a leather wrap.

As well as 3D designs and character designs, I have taken great care and thought into one of my visual effect animations, in which I have created a purple mage portal within a fantasy setting.

During my university course, I was a project leader for a first-person shooter called Wave Survival. I assumed the role of lead 3D designer for this project, and as a result, I created an enemy AI model for this game. The model was created entirely in Maya with Substance Painter texturing, using new skills I had learned along the way. The model has a basic rig made within Maya for basic animation of the arms and the wheel for movement.

Throughout university, I have had the pleasure of combining my assignments with my personal pet project, using skills I have learned along the way. With this, I have been designing creatures of the “Nymayridian” species in both lore and 3D models. This creature, present in these images and turntable render, I have named the “Nymayridian Drone” for the time being while I work on my custom language to go along with the lore for this project. The model was created entirely in ZBrush and then textured in Substance Painter with careful consideration to the colour palette.

My current and most recent character design project evolves around my personal project once more, with my “Nymayridian Vaikaxick,” whose name fits within my designed alphabet and is written in an English character translation. This design will be my latest and will have the most design thought and process put into it of all I have done so far. This creature has plans for a full skeletal rig in mind with full animation for movements, attacks, and idle states.

Original Character Designs

During the course of university, one of my projects was to create a unique character design, for which I chose the theme of a sci-fi robot. This design combines skills I had learned in my own time and at university, and my work process follows a few simple but important steps when creating an original design. Research and inspiration Experimentation and sketching Refinement and finalisation. This process I repeat for all of my own and original designs to help ensure I explore different possibilities and considerations for my characters.

Both of these “Nymayridian” concept designs are part of my university work but were designed for my personal large-scale project I have been doing along with university, with a large universe primarily inspired by Warhammer 40,000. Through this, I have created my own species of creature called the “Nymayridian,” along with extensive lore for each of these and more for the universe itself.

Inspired Designs

A short time after the commissions, I carried on exploring original character designs inspired by my own interests and hobbies. I have created a Warhammer 40,000-inspired character known as Verdun in my free time with some rough background lore that is not canonical for the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

I have done some commission work for people in the past involving their original characters, which I have drawn within Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint. These characters belong to their rightful owners, and I had the privilege to help design and create a digital art form for them both. Through these, I learned a variety of skills to do with colour composition and formation for my 2D art designs, signed using my old online alias “Spectre Ember Frost” to maintain privacy from the online workspace.
